FAQ Section
Vacation rental owners, real estate agents or property managers can register with us and create property listing page with the property photos (up to 19 photos), a link to their website, their rates, amenities, local events, and availability calendar (you can link to any online availability calendar) to showcase their vacation rental, vacation home that is for sale, or vacation home for exchange. Each rental is listed as a separate web page on CheckThisPlaceOut.com.
Owners are provided with an administrator page that includes their page view statistics, reservation/inquiry requests received and can also manually add any other requests or calls theyve received from other online advertisers to better manage all of their requests.
Potential renters can search for vacation rentals on CheckThisPlaceOut.com free of charge (no membership required to search for rentals!). Potential renters can search for a rental property by country, state, and city and can also narrow down their search by property amenities (e.g. wheelchair accessibility, pets welcome, ocean view, golf course property, etc.). Renters then can make an inquiry directly to the owner either by calling or by completing out an online inquiry that is forwarded directly to the owner.
All bookings are made between the property owner and the potential renter. CheckThisPlaceOut.com serves as the listing service only and does not warrant or guarantee the information about a property. See our Terms of Service for more information.

Although it is difficult for you to determine how many Vacation Rental Requests were a direct result of Check This Place Out's advertising efforts since we allow phone numbers and direct links to your websites, we feel it is important for you to include as much information about your property as possible.
GENERAL QUESTIONSHow do you find your renters/inquires?We advertise on all the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, etc. in both the U.S. and the U.K. market.
What do you know about Internet scams? You can usually smell a scammer a mile awaythey have poor grammar (or a poor translation tool since they are mostly from another country), bad spelling, a story behind their request to use the rental (example: Odd use of capital letters and/or want to send you more money than the rent that you require (only having you send them the additional funds back).
Here is an actual inquiry from a scammer:My name is Lisa More from the United Kingdom,i am planing on coming to the sate for a week Seminer,i saw your rentals which is best for me during my stay, i will like to know if you will have a week free in the month of September or October,if you have, i will like to know how much it will cost me for the period and if you need any deposite to hold it for me,i do not want to experiance the dissapointment that happened when i went to Asia last two years.sorry i am deaf and dump,if you wish to conconclude this on phone you can contact my son on his mobile number Lisa.
And after responding that the check she/he sent was found to be fraudulent, she responded:
How are you today?i do hope you are doing great, i got your email,i have to contact my corresponding bank immediately that did issue out payment to you on my behalf while i was at the hospital,my corresponding bank made me understand that my seceratary did ask them to issue payment of what you got while i did ask her to send the atual amount of the rentage while the other money was meant for other purpose before my trip to your home,i am happy payment have been recieve by you, i will like you to deduct your part of the rent while you hold the rest for me,i will email you how you can get the balance to me in my next email and do let me know when you can wire it back to me,the arrangemnt need to be done on time i do hope my money is safe with you, i will email you what means to use to send it back to me after you have deduct your portion for the period,i will ask my son to give you a call later today.his name is Jason

We recommend the following:
1. Have your renter sign a rental agreement.
2. Get a copy of the renters ID (drivers license or passport).
3. Ask for a refundable security deposit.
4. If you accept their payment in the form of a personal check, ask for the payment in full at least 3 weeks prior to their arrival to avoid issues with insufficient funds.
5. Send the check-in information (with lock box combination or instructions on obtaining the house key) AFTER the payment has been made and has been cleared.
6. Accept credit card and online payments using PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can click here for more information or to sign up for a free account.
7. Include a check-in or information sheet that clearly states the things the renter should know about the property, such as emergency numbers (where you or a property manager can be reached), when the trash is picked up, how to use the heater or air conditioner, the number to the guard gate or security, local restaurants you recommend, etc.
8. Offer them a returning customer discount!
9. Offer a
'welcome' gift basket (i.e. a bottle of wine, small toiletry set, pasta 'quick meal' set, coffee and tea set, etc.)
